X Marks the Spot!

Okay, so now we are in Middleton B and wow! This place is GREAT! It's been crazy switching flats and figuring out the ropes of being a district leader but I truly love every second of it. I am learning so much.
First off, I just want to say that my ward mission leader is so amazing! His whole family is so great. He truly helps us so much and he is one of the main reasons I love serving  in Middleton ward!  Ward Mission Leaders out there - I hope you know how much of an impact you can make in a missionaries life and in the work in your own area!

I have moved into an area where we are teaching a lot of Hungarians! (approx 92). WOW! They are so nice! I love them so much. I just hope I can  help them.

I'm sorry that this is such a small e-mail I just can't think today..

A big shout out to my friend BEN JOHNSON who got his mission call to serve in the EMM!!! AHHHHHHH I AM SO EXCITED! Friends and family please help me get in touch with this lad as I want to hear from him!

love you all!

A Bread and Jam Kind of Week

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

So, You might be interested why I wrote the title "A Bread and Jam Kind of Week." To be honest, I am not quite sure. I think it might be because we have been so busy all we have time to eat is bread and jam for tea!

We have seen some great things this week. We have to investigators who are dated for baptism and they are simply amazing!! One of them came to the baptism this friday and she really enjoyed herself! I hope she continues to progress.

We had a lot of miracles. We were walking home at about 8:45 and I was just rushing to beat the clock when all of sudden the Spirit quitely whispered..

"Hey.. go knock on that door.."

I pushed the thought away.. It is too late to knock on a door. It is cold. We have got to get home... Then my thinking changed. I said NO! I am not going to be the missionary that misses out on following the spirit.. So we went back, knocked on the door and BOOM. The man said he wasn't interested and slammed door..

Ha.. can you come again?

Yup! He wasn't interest. So I was confused.. walking down the steps when all of sudden two kids turn the corner. "HEY!" I shouted. They were like "Oh my gosh are you American?" I was like "Yeah!" They ran over and we introduced who we were and what we do. The young man said that he was just hit by a bus 2 weeks ago and didn't have any injuries. NONE. So he believes in God now and the girl said she always prayed when she had a hard time. We were able to share a bit more about the Book of Mormon with them and invited them to church.

It was a neat experience! If I hadn't had knocked on that door I wouldn't have met them. They didn't come to church unfortunately.. It's hard for teens do "be religious" now-a-days. Sometimes... Peer pressure is strong. But, I know that we have planted a seed.

We also had our investigator come to church! She enjoyed it!

I love this work. My familia and amigos. Please REMEMBER the Saviour. Weekly. Daily. Hourly. For we truly do need him every hour! Helaman chapter 5 is amazing. Helaman knew the importance of this principle. In fact he was so wise he named his two sons after the two great Book of Mormon hero's Nephi and Lehi. He did this so that when they remembered their names they would remember their forefathers.. Don't forget your testimony. It's crucial that you have the spirit with you. It is absolutely vital. I second the invitation given by Deiter F. Uchtdorf "Doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith."

Don't forget I love you aaaaalllll!

Gratitude is the theme for this week

Wow.

This week was ammmmaaaaazziiinnngg!!

We found 5 new investigators! THAT IS ALOT. :) I am so excited. These people are so wonderful. I really hope we can continue to share the gospel with them. They all have such sweet personalities.

We took one of our investigators to the mission home fireside last night and it was such a great experience. He was able to hear the testimonies of so many people who had recently been baptised and it was great. He was able to really see what influence the gospel can have our lives. I really think it was a grand experience for him.

This week I also met a woman who lived in Buhl(?) Idaho! Wow, her sister lives over there still. That was amazing. Unfortunately the bus came and we couldn't talk for very long.

We are teaching a Lithuanian man right now and he is so good! At first I was kind of intimadated by him because he is so tall and has this really thick accent but as we got to know him he is really nice! He has a lot of really great questions too.

I love my mission so much! This week the theme has been gratitude. I have so much to be grateful for.. Without the trials that I have been through I don't think I would have realized these blessings! It makes me think of Peter. In Luke it talks about how Jesus asks Peter to go out to sea and cast the nets over the boat.. Peter says something along the lines of "We have been fishing all night and haven't had a single bite! Not even a nibble!! But.. nevertheless I will go and do what you say." I think he must've have felt some sorrow for his lack of success.. But he does what the Lord asks and in the end (spoiler alert!) their is so many fish caught that the boat begins to sink and the nets begin to tear! Now, that is a miracle all in it's own.. but the inward change that must've taken place in Peter is even greater. If he had not have had the trial of catching nothing for hours, maybe even days, would he have fully realized the miracle the Lord had showed him? I believe that because Peter had been a bit discouraged by his time fishing that he was ready for the Lord to show him a miracle! His heart was ready to recieve it.. Sometimes we need to go through trials so we can FULLY recognize the power of Jesus Christ.

Anyways I don't know if that makes sense.. but I love you all and I have to get going!

Dear Family and Friends,

Wow, This week has been really good.. all though it's been a bit slow. Elder Mawhinney has been feeling under the wheater so we've had to go to the doctors a few times. The doctor was Dr. Humphreys and I swear she has the same eyes as dad! Ice blue! It was neat, she said that if I ever wanted to go to Uni in England she would give me advice and stuff because she works at some University here. She was super nice a great doc!

Monday we played some BBall at the church. I'm still not very good at that game. I am just big so I just push people over.. ooops. Then we stopped by our investigator that night and she was SUPER sick. I felt so bad. So we haven't been able to see her since.

Tuesday we had interviews in Rochdale. I love President Preston so much! He is so good. We reviewed the goals I had set for last year and how they helped, if I changed, etc.. and WOW. I actually started crying a little bit. I started talking about how Jesus Christ has become my greatest influence and in this small moment I realized how strong my relationship with Him was. Wow, it was a good moment for me. Then we had pizza with Cordons and Brother Nolan during coordination meeting and ward council! Wow, that was long night full of meetings.

Saturday. We got a referral from the Rochdale Elders and this man we started teaching is searching for the truth! He has a lot of questions but I am sure he'll find all the answers here. It was a good meeting so hopefully we can see some progress there!

Sunday I sang in Church and I realized the power the God has given me. My ability to sing is truly a gift from Heavenly Father.. I am so grateful for it and I hope I can use more frequently. This past week I have sung on doorsteps, in homes, on buses! Haha CRAZY!

I love you all so much and I know that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ!

Keep going strong!

Love
